BC First Responder Scope of Practice Update

Who is this update for? This update is designed for Instructor Trainers, Instructors, and learners who are currently licensed to practice and are teaching or will be teaching First Responder (FR) and/or Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) in British Columbia

 

This blended learning course has been written to satisfy the educational requirements of the new FR and EMR scope of practice and has been approved by the EMALB. Upon successful completion of all appropriate components of this course, FR and EMR license holders will be eligible for the EMALB permission required to practice at the new scope of practice level 

 

First Responder Learner Scope of Practice update Online learning 8 hours (approximately). In-class skills Minimum of 16 hours 

 

Emergency Medical Responder Learner Scope of Practice update Online learning In-class skills 8 hours (approximately) In-class skills Minimum of 16 hours

 

Online learning modules must be completed before the in-class sessions. Once the online course is complete, the learner should download their certificate and either print or email it to their Training Partner/Instructor before attending the classroom portion of the course.

 

  • Upon registration, there is an online portion to be completed before classes start. 
  • It is 8 hours in duration for both days
  • Must show proof of certification before class starts
